The Last College Edit

I graduated college (<----still getting used to saying this). The last four years at WWU have been a surprising adventure. I came to college in a different state, knowing almost no one and had no idea what I wanted to study. Two and a half years ago, I found what I love doing; visual storytelling. The last couple sleep-deprived years have taken me on adventures into my community that I never would have experienced in any other area of study. Finding my passion has also amplified my motivation, and I am incredibly excited to embark on a new adventure next week when I move to Flint, MI for my next internship. Here is a set of catch-up images from random assignments over the last few months.

Sasquatch 2015

The Sasquatch culture is hard to describe in words, and almost impossible to do justice with visuals. I had the opportunity to cover the festival this year. This was my fourth (and most likely last) year attending the festival. So, I tried to capture a different style than in years past. This edit, which contains a blend of personal work, is an attempt to show my own interpretation of the uncanny, indescribable, fantasy-land that is Sasquatch music festival. Enjoy!

Bodybuilding

Somewhere along the last three months I became glued to a computer desk. Between academic life (aka making sure I am going to graduate), social life (realizing that this is my last time do some things in college), and photo editing—I realized I was not doing what I love most; taking photos.

So, I took a whole Saturday to myself and shot for fun. Not for an assignment, not for the athletics department, not freelance work—I just took photos for me. And guess what….It felt amazing.

I covered a natural body building competition down in Marysville. It was not like anything I have covered before, to say the least. Surprised to say that I was the only photojournalist covering the event. For those PNW photogs, definitely check this out next year.
